In July 1993, Lisa was standing outside her car in a parking lot when an elderly man backing up failed to see her and crushed her between two vehicles. Despite the severe impact, she felt no pain initially. She heard a voice telling her to "Look up," and when she did, she saw bright light. Looking back down and then up again, she witnessed her soul leaving her body and ascending into the air. She began praying intensely to God to let her live, explaining she wasn't ready to die - she had just had a baby in May and had three other small children who needed her. As she prayed, she watched her soul return to her body before the ambulance arrived, and then found herself in the hospital.
The experience included an out-of-body state where she clearly left her body and existed outside it. She felt her thoughts were incredibly fast and time seemed to stop. She saw a bright light of mystical origin and heard a definitive voice of unearthly origin. She experienced incredible peace and happiness, feeling united with the world and suddenly understanding everything about the universe. Her past flashed before her outside her control, and she came to a barrier she was not permitted to cross before being sent back. Following her first NDE, Lisa developed psychic abilities including the sixth sense and the ability to read people's lives through their photos, particularly through their eyes. The experience brought her closer to God and eliminated her fear of dying, though she remains concerned about how she will die rather than death itself.
