Linda contracted bacterial meningitis in January 1995, which led to a high fever and induced coma. During this critical medical event, she experienced a profound near-death experience. She found herself meeting her sister who had passed away twenty-one years earlier. Her sister was working with other beings in a long house structure and appeared happy and giggling. Her sister told her there was someone she wanted Linda to meet, and Jesus Christ emerged from the back. Linda recognized him immediately - he looked like artistic portraits but appeared healthy and robust rather than meek. He put his arm around her and said "I have come for you, that you may know that I am real." She felt overwhelming love and respect for Him.
Jesus took her to what she described as a "desert garden" where they sat on large rocks and conversed. He explained various aspects of earthly life, why it was imperfect, and what people had misconstrued about life and living. Notably, He told her that there were many different religions on earth because one faith would not meet everyone's spiritual needs. The conversation contained much more that she could not fully remember afterward. When Linda asked if she could stay, Jesus said "No, it's not your time." When she asked if she could return and tell everyone He was real, He replied "No, this is for others to come to know." She then found herself looking at a small building with stairs, walked up and opened a door, at which point she awoke from the coma. Linda reported having normal consciousness throughout the experience, with incredibly vivid senses and time seeming to slow down. She entered a clearly mystical realm with sweet-smelling ground, pure water from rock, and vibrant unearthly flowers. She felt total release from earthly cares, extreme happiness, joy, and a perfect ethereal love she had never experienced before.
