Laurie S had a severe needle and blood phobia that often caused fainting. In September 1997, while getting a tuberculosis test at a clinic, she became stressed and fainted after receiving the injection. Upon losing consciousness, she experienced her life flashing before her in rapid snapshots from early childhood to her present age, understanding the meaning of all these images despite their remarkable speed.
She entered a dark tunnel feeling peace and harmony, then saw a light with a two-dimensional entity without human features. Other presences accompanied her though she didn't recognize anyone. The being communicated that she had to go back because she still had things to do. Despite wanting to stay in this place of wonderful peace and fulfillment, she was urged to leave. She experienced a burst of light and saw herself on the ground surrounded by her mother, friends, and others from above before returning to her body. The nurse had difficulty resuscitating her, frantically trying to give her oxygen because she wasn't responding quickly. The experience felt like much more time had passed than actually did. Since then, she has had frequent intuitions and visions of future events that consistently come true. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The experience includes classic biblical NDE elements: life review showing moral understanding, tunnel and light imagery consistent with transition between realms, encounter with spiritual beings, being sent back for unfinished purposes (divine timing), and resulting spiritual gifts of prophecy/knowledge. The peace and harmony align with divine presence. Unbiblical elements: The two-dimensional entities without human features differ from biblical descriptions of angels or spiritual beings. The development of psychic abilities or precognition as described could be seen as divination, which scripture warns against, though biblical figures did receive visions and prophecies from God.
