As a child walking home from school, Jeanne was picking flowers for her mother on a cliff edge when she fell into a stream with rugged rocks below. She experienced no fear during the fall, simply thinking "oh I am falling." After a period of blackness, she heard noise and felt herself being hurtled quickly through darkness. Then came a tremendous crack like thunder followed by a blindingly brilliant light that was brighter than anything she had ever seen. She felt as though she was shocked back to consciousness, with the strong sense that "it was not her time." She doesn't know how she survived with her face in the water or how long she was unconscious. She awoke with a broken arm, severe bruising, and shock, but survived what should have been a fatal fall. The experience of the light and the thunderous noise has never left her memory. She reports increased faith following the experience and felt no fear but rather wonder and obedience to the light and noise that commanded her to wake.
