Isaac L was a young child who thought he was a great swimmer despite never having lessons. While floating on pool noodles at his uncle's office complex pool, he slipped between them and fell into the deep end. Unable to swim, he sank straight to the bottom and began inhaling water. He saw a bright light and started moving unnaturally slowly toward it, believing it was a pool light he could use to pull himself up. His soul seemed to leave his body and travel toward the light. His mother later confirmed he hadn't moved from where he fell. His uncle jumped in wearing his business suit and saved him. The experience left him with a lasting yearning to return to the light.
