At 17, Brenda had severe asthma and was staying with her aunt (nurse) and uncle (doctor) in Canada. During a severe attack, her lungs tightened until she stopped breathing. Her uncle carried her to the car racing to his office for treatment. She could mysteriously see tree leaves despite not wearing glasses and facing away from windows. After receiving emergency medication, she heard her aunt say "We just lost her" in the George Massey Tunnel. The tunnel transformed into the classic NDE tunnel leading to divine Light. The Light communicated without words that she was to return and live an abundant life, though she begged not to. She saw the hospital's red emergency sign from outside the car (impossible normally). Watching from above, she saw her uncle try to pull her from the car but her foot was stuck under the seat. She shouted down "My foot is stuck!" but they couldn't hear her until her aunt noticed. Upon re-entering her body, she experienced brutal pain and panic. Her uncle prevented staff from laying her flat, saving her life. Tragically, three months later she was sexually molested by a recommended Christian doctor in Arizona, going from "gates of heaven to gates of hell." The contrast between divine love and human evil has shaped her entire life.
