Ali traveled from Istanbul to Giresun to visit his parents' graves when he began experiencing sweating and back pain. He called his brother and was taken to a village clinic, then transported to the city clinic in Giresun. Upon arrival at the emergency room, conscious but sweating, his surroundings grew darker and he began shaking with weak arms. His heart stopped twice and doctors had to electroshock him back to life. During the cardiac arrest, he found himself in a tunnel, naked and kneeling with elbow on knee and head in hand, in a thinking position. He watched himself from 2-3 meters above. At the tunnel's end was a place with yellowish misty sky that illuminated everything like the sun, with this light shining into the tunnel. The experience made him more devoted to his religion (Islam) and more tolerant of others. He learned death is not unavoidable, stopped judging people, became more modest, and began going with life's flow.
