Four-year-old Adam was riding a four-wheeler with his father who drove fast up a steep hill despite Adam yelling "No!" The vehicle flipped at the top, with father falling clear but the four-wheeler landing on Adam, the gas tank puncturing his spleen. He passed out immediately, briefly woke to someone telling him to wake up, then passed out again. He floated above his body watching without concern as they put him on a stretcher and into an ambulance. He then experienced being in a bright light for a while before returning to his body, waking in the hospital days later. He reportedly didn't breathe for 30 minutes. The experience is his most distinct early childhood memory. He watched peacefully from above, feeling better than before, wondering why they bothered trying to save his body. Later at age 16, an LSD experience reminded him of the NDE with understanding of being rather than trying to be.
