Todd was in the hospital during the 2001 Anthrax attacks with an undiagnosed illness. During a lung procedure, he went into respiratory arrest with blood pressure falling to 35/20 and multiple organ failure. Time slowed with extreme pain pulsating through his body with each heartbeat. He cried out to God to stop the pain, afraid he would die alone. His mind flooded with thoughts of past and missed future. Suddenly the pain disappeared and he was told all his thoughts were in the past and didn't matter anymore. He felt the presence of others who were familiar but not recognized, both close and far away. He was told "You will suffer in silence." He heard medical staff discussing his falling pressure, need to intubate, and dopamine drip - experiencing 20 thoughts between each word spoken. After a two-week coma, he survived knowing we continue to exist after death.
