In 1986, a young woman had a premonition of disaster before a car accident, telling her boyfriend "If I don't sit in the front seat, I'll end up in the hospital." While driving on the interstate after smoking marijuana at a gathering, she kept vividly seeing an accident at their exit and warned the driver to use a different exit. Her warnings were ignored, and at exit 181, their car was broadsided by a truck when the driver tried to turn left from a right-only position. She suffered severe trauma to her left temple, losing about two pints of blood, with cuts near her left eye and the top of her left ear nearly severed.
During the accident, time seemed to slow down as glass broke and flew at her in slow motion. She felt a hole in her temple and thought her brain was exposed. In the emergency room, her blood pressure spiked dangerously high. She began convulsing, vomited, and heard a nurse say "We are losing her" before passing out.
