In September 1972, SB was driving a friend to Connecticut for a wedding when the car's steering broke on the wet Connecticut Turnpike. The car spun multiple times, striking guardrails, and he was immobilized in the wreck. During this time, he found himself above the wrecked car looking at his body, being pulled toward a soft white light that gave him a wonderful feeling. He heard a voice from the white light through mental communication asking him to come with them. Despite very much wanting to go and feeling warmth and love, he told them he was too young to die and wanted to return. He then returned to his body, opened his eyes, and found a man trying to pull open the jammed door. His hands were immobile, so he kicked the door open with both feet. He had hit the windshield with his head and bent the steering wheel but was okay, as was his friend who was under the dash. The experience eliminated his fear of death and had a very positive effect on his life.
