On June 13, 2008, Raymond was bitten by something while jogging that infected him with a parasite. The antibiotic treatment caused the dying parasite to produce antigens that triggered severe heart palpitations. After living with these palpitations for a week, he sought treatment at a walk-in clinic, then was transported by ambulance to a hospital ICU. Doctors administered an IV drug that stopped his heart with the intention of restarting it at a normal rhythm. His heart was stopped multiple times for 10-20 seconds each, though it seemed much longer during the experiences.
Each time Raymond's heart stopped, he had identical profound experiences. Though he didn't see a light or deceased loved ones, he observed a bluish-green, almost translucent membrane that dominated an entire side of wherever he was. He couldn't see through this membrane but could perceive shadow movements behind it and hear sounds while feeling the presence of many beings behind it. His senses were extraordinarily enhanced - he could not only see and hear but also taste and smell this membrane with incredible vividness. The enhanced perception included an added "depth" to all senses that doesn't exist in normal life. Behind the membrane, Raymond sensed great energy that didn't seem entirely benign nor evil, but rather many different personalities interacting with each other. Something was communicated to him from this membrane, though not in words, and he either cannot remember it or doesn't want to remember. He felt no fear or pain and didn't care if he returned to life. The experience felt familiar somehow, and he had awe and wonderment throughout. His consciousness operated at an incredibly enhanced level with thoughts moving at tremendous speed. The experience profoundly changed Raymond's life perspective. He lost interest in material pursuits like wealth, large houses, and chasing romantic relationships, seeing these as trivial. He can now better detect when people aren't being truthful and feels different in how he sees others. He also received visions of difficult times ahead for the world involving suffering and death, understanding that humanity has the power to change this but most are ignorant of this ability. The membrane experience remains vivid, as if imprinted on his soul, and he can recall it perfectly whenever he thinks about it. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The membrane barrier preventing full entry into the spiritual realm aligns with biblical concepts of separation between earthly and heavenly dimensions. The enhanced consciousness and access to knowledge reflects spiritual enlightenment described in scripture. The prophetic visions of future tribulation align with biblical prophecy about end times. The lasting spiritual transformation reflects biblical accounts of encounters with the divine. Unbiblical elements: The ambiguous nature of the beings behind the membrane - neither clearly good nor evil - doesn't align with biblical clarity about spiritual beings being either godly or demonic. The communication that he cannot or will not remember raises questions, as biblical revelations are typically meant to be shared. The suggestion that humanity can change prophesied events through awareness might conflict with biblical sovereignty and predetermined prophecy.
