In approximately April 1989, Pluma was forcibly overdosed with cocaine by her boyfriend who injected it against her will, insisting she couldn't use any unless she took it intravenously like he did. Within thirty seconds of the injection, she became extremely high and hot, stripped off her clothes, collapsed on the bed, and her breathing and heart stopped. Her boyfriend performed CPR and managed to resuscitate her after she had been clinically dead for four to five minutes.
During her clinical death, Pluma experienced a harrowing journey through darkness. She rose above her body and sped away through a dark tunnel, flying very fast. The tunnel was filled with disturbing sounds - initially screaming and laughing like on a roller coaster, then transitioning to screaming and crying, followed by the sensation of falling. The screaming became painful, like the sounds of torture. Then suddenly she zoomed back above her body, looking down and watching her boyfriend perform CPR on her physical form. She then snapped back into her body, terrified and extremely sick. The experience had a profound and lasting impact on Pluma's life. She saw everything she had done that was bad during this experience, reinforcing the concept of karma and the Golden Rule. This stands in contrast to an earlier near-death experience she had as a child during appendicitis, where she had seen only good things. The overdose experience showed her she was damned and motivated her to completely change her life to avoid seeing that hell again. She quit drugs and transformed her behavior based on the understanding that there is a hell and that our actions have consequences in the afterlife. Pluma later shared her experience on Art Bell's radio show in July 1999, where the host was surprised to hear her talk about hell, as most NDE accounts focus on positive experiences. The nightmares that followed the experience, while difficult, ultimately served a positive purpose in motivating her complete life transformation. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The dark tunnel with sounds of torture and suffering strongly aligns with biblical descriptions of hell as a place of torment and separation from God. Unbiblical elements: The reference to karma, while used to describe moral consequences, is a Hindu/Buddhist concept not found in biblical theology. However, the underlying principle of reaping what one sows is biblical (Galatians 6:7).
