During a pool party at her cousin's house, Nora attempted to save her young cousin who was drowning in the deep end. Though a good swimmer, she lacked lifeguarding skills. Her cousin climbed on her back in panic, repeatedly pushing her under until she reached the pool edge but began sinking. After the nanny rescued her cousin, Nora drowned. Her heart stopped and she experienced her spirit lifting from her body by the shoulders. The entire ceiling appeared as a gorgeous white light portal drawing her upward. She could simultaneously see the pool tiles around her and observe the scene from above, understanding the nannies' Hindi conversation though she doesn't speak the language. She experienced her whole life being explained, felt the love of people in her life, and sensed she had a choice to live. The light was hypnotic and persuading, but the feeling of love was stronger. When she chose to return, she felt the hand holding her shoulders let go, dropping her back. The nanny then jumped in and pulled her out by her hair. Upon revival, she saw the white sky return to normal and felt her heart restart. The experience gave her lasting peace and the ability to sense spirits, have prophetic dreams, and déjà vu experiences.
