Nancy M experienced respiratory arrest in the emergency room while being treated for complications from Myasthenia Gravis. Medication had entered her lungs instead of her stomach, causing breathing difficulties. Around 3am, after being told she had a room, she suddenly found herself in space viewing gray clouds with an extraordinarily bright light beaming upward behind them, much brighter than the sun. She realized she wasn't breathing but felt complete joy, peace, and love. As she moved toward the light, beautiful mahogany carved gates emerged from the clouds and slammed shut with a loud bang that vibrated through her. A second set of smooth mahogany gates appeared closer and also slammed shut. Then she found herself sitting on a hospital bed as a beautiful angel appeared - with golden glowing hair, pale blue eyes, wearing a brown gown edged in gold. The angel wrapped her arms around Nancy and communicated through her eyes: "You are not going anywhere, you are staying right here." The angel's eyes were stern but filled with love. Nancy then heard her doctor saying "She had respiratory arrest" and awoke on a respirator. She immediately indicated she wanted to write and documented seeing the light and an angel. Multiple nurses and doctors who weren't her caretakers later came to hear her story privately, finding comfort in understanding what their dying patients might experience.
