After a hysterectomy to remove cancerous cells, MHB caught a hospital infection leading to septicemia. Ten days post-surgery, her abdomen was black with infection. During emergency laparotomy surgery with eight drains inserted, she had an out-of-body experience. She saw herself from above her body with a fixed perimeter of vision. She experienced complete silence, incredible peace and joy, and unity with the universe. She saw an Asian man in surgical greens enter her field of vision. The experience left her with less fear of death and a sense of having seen "the TRUTH" though feeling she lost the keys to understanding it fully.
