Mari, age 5, had a severe allergic reaction to a sulphur injection given after tonsillectomy in November 1956. Approximately 15 minutes after discharge, she became violently ill in the car and developed severe skin reactions. She was rushed back to the emergency room where she experienced clinical death. During this time, she had an out-of-body experience where she observed events from the wall of the emergency room, watching the medical team work on her body with complete detachment.

She then experienced a journey through a hazy opening into a realm of infinite light and love. She described being enveloped in exquisite, infinite love and existing as an "ageless soul" in total bliss. A collective consciousness welcomed her but conveyed that the decision to stay or return was entirely hers. Despite being only 5 years old, she recalls making this decision with accumulated knowledge and wisdom beyond her years, evaluating the choice as an adult consciousness would. She decided to return based on knowing she had unfinished business in life.

--- Biblical Summary ---
Biblical elements: The out-of-body experience aligns with biblical accounts of spirit-body separation. The realm of light resonates with descriptions of divine presence ("God is light" - 1 John 1:5). The collective consciousness could represent the communion of saints or heavenly host. The concept of having unfinished earthly purpose reflects biblical ideas about God's plan for each life. The transformation and clarity of the experience lasting throughout life reflects spiritual transformation themes.

Unbiblical elements: The concept of existing as an "ageless soul" with accumulated knowledge beyond current life could suggest pre-existence of souls, which most Christian traditions reject. The collective consciousness making the return decision entirely the individual's choice, without clear divine authority, differs from biblical sovereignty concepts.
