Kevin attempted suicide by train on April 23, 2001, standing on the tracks as a train approached at 120 kph. Upon impact, he heard six sharp crunching sounds of breaking bones in his right arm, blacked out briefly, then saw himself lying beside the track with his right arm torn off at the shoulder and the back of his skull smashed in. Despite this gruesome sight, he felt completely detached. He began moving at insane speed through a grey place dense with thousands of talking "people," then found himself in what appeared to be space near Earth, seeing continents through clouds. When beings asked what he was doing there already, he responded rudely, causing consternation. Another being said "Come along" and showed him to a place with brilliantly colored stars. For what seemed like three days, he was shown rapid-fire visions of Earth from different heights and times - natural catastrophes, changing coastlines, civilizations, all possibilities in fast-forward. He was told to "sleep" three times during this information overload. He then awoke beside the tracks in agony, his arm and head intact but badly injured. He called emergency services and walked 200 meters to the ambulance. The experience transformed his agnostic-atheist worldview, convincing him of continued existence after death, though he struggles with integration. He now experiences precognitive dreams.
