Lindsay attempted suicide on October 29, 2008 by taking 300 various pills following an argument with her ex-husband. She went to his house at 3:08 AM, took the medication, and lay down with her dog. When she stopped breathing and had no heartbeat, her ex-husband called 911. During her clinical death, she observed everything from outside her body with extraordinary clarity and peace. She saw the paramedics arrive, turn her over, confirm she wasn't breathing and had no heartbeat. She watched them intubate her, struggle to find veins that kept blowing, cut off her clothing, and give her an adrenaline injection. Throughout these observations, she felt incredibly calm, light, peaceful, safe and happy - in stark contrast to the pain she experienced when brought back. She witnessed herself having a seizure with eight nurses holding her down. The experience included periods of warm white light alternating with darkness. When the adrenaline brought her back, she experienced intense pain from aspiration and a too-large trachea tube jamming into her left lung.
