Larry was attacked by a drunk, jealous former employee at his home. During the assault, he fell backwards, landing on his head with the attacker on top, causing a terrible crunch in his neck. He lost consciousness and experienced being alone in darkness before seeing a dot of light no bigger than a match-head. As the light grew, he realized he was moving toward it, like riding a roller coaster car through a tunnel. Upon reaching the light, he was surrounded by intense bright white and experienced the most peaceful, euphoric state imaginable. He sensed three or four beings standing on wide steps, with someone of greater importance higher up who was the source of the light. A voice that seemed everywhere asked if he wanted to stay or go back. Though he wanted to stay, he chose to return for his two daughters (ages 8 and 12). He immediately traveled back through darkness. Upon returning, he experienced temporary paralysis for 15 minutes. X-rays revealed his second vertebra (T2) was broken in three pieces. He had surgery four days later, fusing T2 and T3 with rib bone. The attacker confessed to killing him to his brother-in-law. Larry fully recovered after six months in a head brace.
