During a high school track meet, Kimberly experienced a hypocalcemia seizure after running the 600-yard dash due to fluctuating parathyroid levels. Her muscles locked into fetal position causing her to collapse on stadium steps. She rose out of her body and experienced a rapid life review with every color and emotion flashing by. Flying through outer space past literal planets, she arrived at a rectangular room made of light. An older male figure asked her to wait, then returned saying "You have to go back. Jackie Slatter, LA Rams player who happened to be at the stadium, found her with blue lips and stiff limbs. Paramedics initially couldn't find a pulse, frightening Kimberly who could hear them.
