In July 1957, Joseph, a Florida police officer, went to the emergency room for a bad tetanus shot reaction. After receiving two penicillin shots, he collapsed and died from anaphylactic shock. Floating at the ceiling, he watched the chaotic scene below - his body jumping and shaking on the gurney, the room full of people working on him, electric paddles being used unsuccessfully, and the nurse who gave the shots sitting hysterically in the corner. He heard someone say he was dead. A doctor then rushed in with a long syringe and needle, shoving everyone aside, and plunged it into Joseph's chest - the last thing he remembered.
