On October 2, 1998, Helen was rushed to hospital with excruciating pain from a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. She lost 2.5 liters (45%) of blood internally, crushing her lungs and central nervous system. During extreme pain, her mind took her to a brown paddock with a monster/pain companion (man with bull's head). Her NDE consisted of rushing through a dark tunnel at extreme speed, bouncing off unseen walls. She approached multiple bluish lights with brightness around each. These beings loved her absolutely and completely, knowing everything about her good and bad, accepting her totally. Despite being a devoted mother, only her life force seemed to exist. She wanted to join them but felt pulled back. She opened her left eye in recovery, later feeling isolated and missing those life forces. She felt more connection with trees and sunshine than people for almost a year.
