In July 1970, seven-year-old Harriet was comatose for four weeks suffering from a brain abscess. During an angiogram intended to pinpoint the abscess, she watched the procedure from the left upper corner of the room while still comatose. She saw someone holding her hand (her father), a large square machine above her, and doctors at the foot of the bed on the right side. Years later when she described this to her father, he went white - she had exactly described the angiogram procedure. An electroencephalogram the night before had shown the abscess, and her parents were told without surgery she would die or be left vegetative. Miraculously, overnight the abscess completely disappeared. The angiogram showed no abscess, and she survived to later graduate from law school.
