He took bullets to his upper arm (shattering the bone), twice in the abdomen (hitting liver, stomach, and lung), and drove 14 blocks before pulling over and lying in the street. As he lay dying thinking of his two-year-old son, his soul left his body. He floated with his hands on his parents' shoulders in the hospital hallway, then observed his surgery from the ceiling. He saw a white shape matching his size and form slowly lay into his body from feet to face, at which point he came back to life. A stranger had rescued him from the street.
