Christine was being treated for leukemia when chemotherapy drugs caused major electrical problems in her heart, resulting in ventricular fibrillation and clinical death in June 1995. During her NDE, she found herself in her apartment bedroom observing several people in dark clothing (likely police) and one in white (possibly EMT) kneeling around her body. She was accompanied by two deceased relatives - her Aunt Kate and Uncle Harry - who communicated with her telepathically without words.
She didn't perceive them as physical people but knew they were there to take her somewhere. She felt peaceful, calm, and accepting with no strong emotions. The next scene involved traveling forward through a dark valley at night toward massive rolling hills/mountains. Her uncle was slightly to her right and aunt in the lead as they moved toward the mountains. She experienced coolness and saw the black sky with possible stars. Upon awakening from her coma, she had severe short-term memory loss but told her mother she had just been with her deceased aunt and uncle. Due to memory issues from the coma, she only retains these two vivid scenes. The experience transformed her from skeptical materialism to serious spiritual seeking.
