On August 17, 2007, Atana experienced a severe insulin reaction causing dangerously low blood sugar. She became unconscious and unable to move or speak. Emergency personnel transported her to the hospital where she was resuscitated. This was her second such experience, having had a similar NDE at age 35.
During the experience, she saw herself bathed in bright light and surrounded by twelve beings in white garments standing in a circle with her in the middle. These beings appeared to be record-keepers of the universe who communicated telepathically. They informed her that shadow people in the corner of her backyard could not approach her because she had done 108 good things in her lifetime. The beings seemed to be in charge of the universe and kept records of all human beings. Communication was telepathic - quicker and clearer than normal speech. When she returned to her body, she was in the emergency room surrounded by medical staff with "a bit of commotion going on." She could also hear and see the ambulance personnel, with one woman commenting on her beautiful matching finger and toenails. The experience left her feeling tremendous peace, calm, and like she had a big learning experience. She feels more forgiving toward family and friends, and many of her simple wishes now seem to happen quickly. Most significantly, she learned that dying is not bad or scary. She states she "just seems to know" the reality of what happened. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The twelve beings in white garments could represent the twelve apostles or heavenly elders described in Revelation. The bright light aligns with divine glory. The concept of good deeds being recorded reflects the biblical books of life and judgment. The telepathic communication mirrors spiritual understanding beyond human language. The peace and transformation toward forgiveness reflect fruits of spiritual encounter. Protection from dark forces due to righteousness has biblical precedent. Unbiblical elements: The specific number 108 good deeds suggests a karmic or Eastern religious counting system rather than biblical grace. The shadow people in the backyard imply ongoing territorial spiritual beings which, while biblical acknowledges spiritual warfare, the presentation seems more occult than biblical. The suggestion that wishes now manifest could lean toward new age manifestation rather than prayer and God's will.
