Vinnie suffered severe injuries in a head-on collision with a semi-truck in Mexico, experiencing multiple clinical deaths during which his heart stopped 2-3 times. At the accident scene, he witnessed beings of light forming a protective shield around the victims while dark buzzing entities attempted unsuccessfully to penetrate it. During his month-long coma with no brain activity, he experienced multiple scenes: being on a yacht eating fried chicken, visions of past lives as a plains warrior, Roman soldier, and pre-Columbian priest-warrior. Most significantly, he encountered a figure he believed to be Jesus Christ, who showed wounds on wrists and foot, communicated telepathically with perfect love, and showed Vinnie participating in the crucifixion. Jesus confirmed his resurrection on the third day and told Vinnie he must return. While comatose, Vinnie visited other ICU patients out-of-body, particularly connecting with a dying man who later passed away. His mother confirmed knowledge of this patient that Vinnie couldn't have known normally.
