On October 11, 1998, John L was stabbed in the upper left chest, puncturing his lung and cutting his pulmonary vein. His sister drove him to the hospital while he coughed up blood and felt his body shutting down. After losing consciousness, he experienced seeing patterns of light that became three-dimensional geometric shapes, then moved at incredible speed through what seemed like a tunnel. He heard voices telling him to "Remember" and "You have to let them know." He experienced a complete life review seeing all his actions, both good and bad, with intense feelings of remorse and shame for his wrongdoings. He saw thousands or millions of people at a lower level who were "the lost," emanating feelings of foreboding, pain, and fear. He then experienced extreme intoxication and encountered a seductive being that appeared childlike but evil, which transformed into a beautiful woman. This being engaged in disturbing sexual behavior while bathing in his blood. Other beings pulled him away asking why he was there, telling him to remember to tell others. He regained consciousness in the emergency room to medical staff asking him questions. The experience led to his recovery from alcoholism and obtaining a Master's degree in teaching.
