Sally J experienced a cardiac arrest on August 28, 2005 at 10:30 AM while hospitalized. She had excruciating pain across her shoulders and neck, called her husband to be with her, and alerted nurses. Initial EKGs on two different machines showed no heart attack, but she soon went into cardiac arrest. She was clinically dead for one minute and thirty-five seconds.
During the cardiac arrest, Sally found herself floating above her body in a gray square area, looking down at herself lying on the bed. Her husband was present and witnessed her eyes rolling back in her head, prompting him to yell to the nurses that something was seriously wrong. As soon as she regained consciousness, she immediately told others that she had died and described seeing herself lying on the bed while suspended in a gray area overhead looking down.
