Sharon L was hit by a city bus while riding her bicycle to graduation from veterinary technician school in 1971. She fell under the bus with broken bones and head injury, having no memory of the accident itself or her initial two-week hospital stay. What she clearly remembers is seeing her body lying in the street while she floated upward feeling light like on a cloud. As she rose, her body became smaller and smaller until it disappeared, while her entire life played back in seconds. She felt profound peace during this separation.
Following the NDE, she experienced severe personality changes and memory loss. She took on the personalities of her convalescent hospital patients, lost her sense of family connection, and began speaking deep spiritual messages she couldn't control. She developed psychic abilities including precognition that frightened her. She describes feeling like "an adult in a child's body" having to relearn the world. A neurologist, not understanding her head injury effects, placed her in a mental hospital where she was heavily medicated for claiming she had died and returned.
