Phillip was driving with his two younger brothers when another vehicle going 75 mph in a 35 mph zone, driven by a drunk driver, struck his driver's side despite his being well over the center of the road. He heard and felt nothing upon impact. He found himself standing outside with a dark gray hazy appearance, watching the pickup and flashing lights arriving. His immediate concern was for his brothers, crying out "Where are my brothers?" repeatedly. Instantly he was back in his body with hands to his head, blood running into his eyes, before losing consciousness.
He spent overnight in the hospital and two weeks on observation at home. For years he wondered why he felt thrown from the pickup until 1982 when reading about NDEs at Brigham Young University, finally understanding his experience. The experience gave him understanding of the human soul as intelligence clothed with spirit, created in God's image before birth, entering the embryo at conception. He subsequently experienced premonitions and heard warning voices, including correctly predicting Reagan's presidency and receiving divine guidance during family crises.
