Patrick was playing football with colleagues at work in Michigan when he was tackled, slipped on frozen snow, and hit his head on ice and pavement. He was knocked unconscious with his lips turning blue. During this time, Patrick experienced an out-of-body experience, floating above his body and observing the scene below. He could see everyone freaking out, heard someone say his lips were turning blue and they should call 911. He observed the EMTs working on him and followed his body to the hospital, able to hear and see everything clearly. Throughout the experience, he felt warmth and comfort despite seeing his cold, lifeless body. He felt pulled in two directions - one saying stay, the other saying he must go - before suddenly returning to his body at the hospital.
