Pat was experimenting with Angel Dust (PCP) combined with beer and marijuana when he felt he was going to pass out and laid his head back. He became unconscious and was not breathing, creating a life-threatening situation that required his friend to shake him awake repeatedly.
During the experience, Pat found himself floating among clouds in a blue sky, feeling incredibly free, content, and happy "like being born again." He had no memory of who or what he was, only awareness of being, and wanted to continue flying among the clouds. He saw a large circle of light in the distance that drew him closer.
