In January 1998, George "Bones" was run over by a truck while riding his Harley. He was revived three times during life flight to San Diego hospital. He suffered 56 broken bones, collapsed lung, closed head injury, broken jaw, and drowned in his own blood. During his three-month coma, his spirit spent time in the hospital's front courtyard with another presence. He could observe his body in room 734 from outside. He reviewed his life and decided whether to live or die. The other presence revealed himself as someone from God's department, asking "Well George, what are you going to do?" He chose to live for his 7-year-old daughter. When friend Richard later wheeled him outside to the exact courtyard, Bones recognized everything - the courtyard, where the presence stood, and the corridor where he went at night, confirming his out-of-body experience was real.
