In fall 1983, Marnie M was driving home from work at night on the EC Row Highway outside Windsor, Ontario when a car going westbound in the wrong direction hit her head-on at the top of a hill at 80+ mph. Her car spun and hit two more cars, with witnesses reporting her head went through the front windshield and side window. The car went down a hill into a water-filled ditch where she would have drowned if not rescued while unconscious. During the accident, she felt no pain and was happy, looking forward to dying. She saw a light and wanted to join it. A man's voice told her she couldn't go with them, that she had special plans and important work to do, that her job wasn't done yet. Despite arguing and wanting to go, she was told about the special plan and had to return. She woke up outside the car completely unharmed except for glass pieces in her skin. The drunk driver who hit her was never charged. For years, small glass pieces emerged from her skin.
