Lonna experienced clinical death as a child during a severe asthma attack that caused respiratory and then cardiac arrest. Her parents called the doctor in fear as she had stopped breathing and her heart had stopped. During her clinical death, she had a profound out-of-body experience where she found herself sitting up in the corner of her bedroom, observing everything happening below. Behind her was a dark tunnel with a light at the end, though she was so engrossed in watching the scene that she ignored it. She watched as the doctor pronounced her dead and her parents began crying. The sight of her parents' grief was very difficult for her to witness, so she prayed to go back to them to stop their crying. Suddenly, she found herself back in her body on the bed looking up at them. The experience included incredible peace, joy, and a sense of unity with the universe.
