Linda Sue, a diabetic who had experienced multiple near-death situations without any spiritual experiences, finally had her first NDE during a severe hypoglycemic episode in April 2001. Her blood sugar dropped so low it didn't register on the meter, and despite her husband's attempts with various medications, he could not bring her back. During this crisis, she had an out-of-body experience where she looked down and saw herself standing in a beautiful field of blooming flowers. She appeared younger and was wearing her favorite black sweater. As she started to pick a flower, she turned and looked up in the air and heard a voice say, "Linda you can't stay, you have to go back." She then awoke in her husband's arms. The experience was brief but profound - she felt sadness that she couldn't stay in that beautiful place, but also gained certainty about life after death and felt closer to God.
