Karen D experienced an NDE in 2003 during a 38-day hospitalization for bilateral obliterating organizing pneumonia (BOOP). Facing a high-risk lung biopsy that doctors said she might not survive, she wrote a note asking a pastor to watch over her husband. During the experience, she found herself in what seemed like a fluorescent white hallway with no visible lights.
