Jonathan H experienced clinical death twice on the operating table during a suicide attempt on January 10, 1993. He watched the operating room staff rushing around his body from a corner of the ceiling on the opposite side of the room. He felt remarkably calm and curious about the technical aspects of their work, wondering why they were making such a fuss.
A bright white light grew above him to the left, appearing square rather than round, like a torch approaching. He was drawn toward it like iron filings to a magnet, entering a square corridor with a slight upward gradient. The atmosphere was calm with neutral temperature but annoying silence. A definitely male voice, unrecognized, said "It's not time yet, you can go back now." He has questioned why ever since. Post-experience, Jonathan became emotionally harder, less tolerant, impatient, and unforgiving of mistakes - effects only recently diminishing. He has since talked with his deceased grandfather and frequently sees deceased people who appear happy and preoccupied, including a Cavalier in full garb drinking by a fireplace. He experienced profound peace never felt before or since. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: Clear out-of-body experience observing earthly events from above, encountering divine light and authoritative voice determining his time to return, passage through a tunnel-like corridor toward light. The voice's sovereignty over life and death aligns with biblical divine authority. Unbiblical elements: Post-death communication with deceased grandfather and regularly seeing dead people suggests mediumistic abilities, which scripture warns against (Deuteronomy 18:10-12). These ongoing spirit encounters contradict biblical teaching about the separation between living and dead.
