Jorge R, age 13-14, experienced an NDE at school in 1978 when a playmate accidentally choked him while playing. Jorge had existing health issues including tonsillitis and asthma. When the larger boy grabbed him around the neck and dragged him, Jorge began choking and turning purple. After being released, he fell unconscious while bending to pick up a shiny object.
During the NDE, Jorge found himself on a pathway in a gigantic garden filled with light, vegetation, plants, flowers, and trees. He felt remarkable peace and tranquility he had never experienced before. At the end of the walkway was an enormous central light appearing square rather than round. A superior being interrogated him, asking what he was doing there. Jorge began explaining about being at school during recess when he awoke on the ground surrounded by classmates. Jorge kept this experience private for 25 years, not even telling his parents. The experience profoundly affected his spirituality and understanding of life beyond the physical.
