Corina underwent a hysterectomy in 1989, terrified due to losing her mother to uterine cancer at age 30. Post-surgery, she repeatedly told nurses something was wrong but was dismissed. Around 8:30pm, she saw a beautiful elderly woman with white hair in her room who said she would call the nurses. The woman wasn't actually there. Corina had been bleeding internally all day. As she was rushed back to surgery, she felt warm and comfortable rather than afraid.
During her NDE, Corina floated above her body watching the panicked surgical team, the doctor saying he couldn't see through all the blood. She experienced total darkness where she felt but couldn't see her body, calling out for God. A brilliant light appeared with a cathedral-like doorway where her deceased mother stood with others. She experienced overwhelming love, acceptance, and for one second understood everything. Her mother telepathically offered her a choice to continue or return. Thinking of her young children, Corina chose to return, feeling like a rubber band snapping back. She awoke in ICU with a crying nurse exclaiming "You're back!" When she asked about the old woman and told the doctor about floating above the surgery, he fled her room.
