John C was retrieving his car from a motel parking lot when it stalled in the southbound lane. As he removed his seatbelt to turn on emergency flashers, a 1968 Impala traveling approximately 45 mph broadsided his 1973 Ford Pinto on the driver's side. He was thrown from the vehicle onto the pavement, gasping for air. He was transported to Bass Baptist Hospital's emergency room where he lost consciousness.
During his NDE, John found himself hovering near the ceiling, looking down at his body on the table below. He observed doctors using defibrillator paddles trying to revive him. He was then pulled down a strange tunnel into a brightly lit area where four men dressed in white robes stood. One approached him, and he glided to another room where he encountered a being he knew was God, seated on a throne. An intense bright light streamed from this being, who had long hair and a beard, visible only for an instant before the light became too intense. John felt God's concern, compassion, and love unlike anything he had experienced before. He sensed that God had knowledge of everything that had been and would be. Gold streaks appeared within the bright white light, and John understood that all wealth comes from God. After approximately three minutes in God's presence, John was glided back to the four men by a tall white fence. One told him it wasn't his time yet. Before he could protest that he didn't want to return, he was back in his body, gasping and choking with a tube in his throat. He discovered he had been unconscious for three days. Following the experience, John developed psychic abilities and prophetic visions. He had a vision two weeks before the Challenger disaster and saw a white light around his father two weeks before his death. Finding these gifts disturbing, John asked God to remove them, and the visions largely ceased.
