Jim W experienced a traumatic brain injury from a fall on April 25, 1995. While being transported to Harborview Hospital via helicopter, he found himself floating above his body, looking down through the air-grill at the roof line of the helicopter interior. He felt very comfortable and at peace, with an indescribable light behind him that he did not turn toward, perhaps from fear of not returning. During this out-of-body experience, he heard the emergency medical technicians rushing around and saying twice "We're losing him" as they worked on his severely injured body. Jim then felt what he knew was the hand of God on his shoulder and heard a calming voice say "You are not done here." He felt a gentle push on his shoulders and was pushed back into his beaten body, after which he remembers nothing until coming out of the coma he had slipped into.
The veridical observation of hearing the EMTs say "We're losing him" twice while floating above his body is significant, as this occurred during a critical medical emergency when he was unconscious.
