Jeana B was accidentally shot in the head at point-blank range with a 9mm gun on January 14, 1995. The gun was believed to be unloaded when she placed it behind her head on the couch. Upon being shot, she felt paralyzed with tremendous ringing in her head, remaining conscious in her mind though appearing lifeless. She experienced herself lifting from the couch with arms stretched forward trying to reach her friend, then everything went black.
In the darkness, Jeana felt profound peace and her body floating upward. She saw her friend calling 911, desperately wanting to tell him she was alright and felt no pain. She then saw the image of a hand through the darkness that turned her soul around and pushed her away from behind - which she believes was her guardian angel. She fell back "at the speed of light," re-entering her body "as if reborn," gasping for air and kicking at paramedics. The bullet trajectory was devastating: entering her right ear, exiting the lower left neck, re-entering the left shoulder, and exiting under her left arm. She suffered a stroke, damaged blood vessel requiring surgery, tracheotomy, damaged vocal cord, and fused neck disks. Doctors said she might never talk, eat normally, hear from her right ear, have full use of her right arm/face, or drive again. Through intensive rehabilitation, she proved medical predictions wrong, recovering completely.
