In September 2002, Jan M was running along a river with her dogs, husband, and grandchildren when she suddenly felt strange and collapsed. Her husband reported she hit the ground, stopped breathing, and her eyes were wide open with her body limp "like a rag doll." After shaking her with no response, he prayed for guidance and was told to hit her on her back repeatedly, harder each time. She made an unusual sound and began breathing again. During her clinical death, Jan heard her grandchildren asking what was wrong and the oldest saying "Grandpa, we must talk to Jesus." She then went to a place of calm with sky of unprecedented blue and bright gold and green trees with transparent leaves. She was floating over her body, seeing herself in her husband's arms with grandchildren standing by. After returning, she was rushed to the hospital and spent three weeks in critical care. Multiple doctors told her she should not have survived, as someone with the same condition that day had died within hours. The medical staff remained amazed at her survival.
