She witnessed her deceased grandfather talking to God, who appeared only as light with an authoritative voice. Her grandfather was asking God to let her stay, accompanied by his pet boxer dog. God reviewed her life, causing her to feel fear about being judged, but then reassured her about something good she had done helping a boy child. When asked if she wanted to stay or return, she was given a vision of her mother's future cancer. She chose to return to help her mother, knowing no one else would be there. Her prediction came true fifteen years later when her mother developed breast and uterine cancer, and Jean was indeed her main support.
