Hours after giving birth to her first child Adrijana on September 9, 1969, Shaida began experiencing excruciating pain in her womb. When she complained, she was told to be quiet as it was disturbing other mothers. Several hours later, she began leaving her body, floating upward toward the ceiling. She intuitively knew she was leaving her body to die. As she reached the ceiling looking down at herself, she thought of her newborn baby and what would happen to her if she died. This motivated her to stretch her arms and push against the ceiling to return to her body. She came back to find herself being transferred to a trolley for emergency surgery in the operating theatre. She was never told why they needed to operate. During the experience, her vision became overwhelmingly photographic, recording every angle and object in the room. She noted everything was grey and transparent, enabling her to see through objects. All sounds ceased completely - the world had shut itself off from her. She felt extremely frightened and alarmed during the experience but gained knowledge about her baby's bleak future if she died. The experience was definitely real to her, and she has always known she prevented her own death through conscious choice. Years later, she had a precognitive experience seeing a newspaper report about the assassination of Senator Kennedy in Ireland one day before it actually happened.
