While the childhood NDE itself contains biblical elements like OBE and divine light, the development of psychic abilities and especially becoming a medium represents direct violation of biblical commands against divination and consulting spirits. Scripture explicitly forbids mediumship in multiple passages.
Five-year-old Reeva had measles with an extremely high fever in June 1980. She was kept at home as she could not be moved to a hospital, and the doctor was uncertain if she would survive the night. Her parents later reported she was in a coma for approximately three weeks and could not even open her eyes. During this medical crisis, Reeva had a profound out-of-body experience.
During her experience, Reeva observed remarkable veridical details while floating above her body. She saw herself in bed and her grandmother asleep in a chair beside her. Most remarkably, the walls of the house became transparent to her - she could see through them as if they didn't exist. She observed her parents asleep in the next room and her other grandmother sleeping in the third bedroom. She moved higher toward a beautiful bright light resembling the moon but with long rays that seemed to embrace her. The experience ended when her grandmother suddenly woke up, opened her prayer book, and began praying. Reeva was immediately "sucked down" toward her body and landed with a thump. After the experience, she developed psychic abilities including knowing when something was wrong with loved ones and occasionally knowing before someone would pass away. She later became a medium.
