While Black's NDEs included seeing deceased relatives and otherworldly realms, the extensive paranormal abilities that developed afterward present significant biblical concerns. The psychokinetic abilities, precognitive dreams, and especially the after-death communications with deceased persons would be considered forms of divination and mediumship, which are explicitly discouraged in biblical texts. Despite scientific verification of these abilities, from a biblical perspective they would be seen as problematic spiritual practices. The case demonstrates remarkable paranormal phenomena but conflicts with traditional biblical teachings about appropriate spiritual practices.
Canadian artist and former Armed Forces music instructor Cherylee Black experienced three NDEs: falling down stairs as a preschooler, ruptured appendix at age 10, and car accident at age 29 causing brain injury. Her first NDE included seeing her deceased maternal grandmother whom she later recognized in a photograph. Following her NDEs, she developed extensive paranormal abilities including psychokinesis, precognitive dreams, and after-death communication with unknown deceased persons. Multiple researchers documented her abilities: Robert and Suzanne Mays observed her PK influence on pinwheels; John Kruth documented her ability to affect an Egely Wheel and photomultiplier readings at Rhine Center; Dean Radin and others confirmed pinwheel movement abilities. She achieved 40% accuracy in controlled precognitive dream experiments. She had verified ADC with Robert Van de Castle after his death and George Weissmann's deceased son Ari. Her abilities were extensively tested and documented by multiple scientific researchers.
